Embedded Software Developer

ASSA ABLOY Digital and Access Solutions (DAS) EMEIA, Krakow, Poland

Do you have a passion for embedded firmware development and IoT? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you. The Digital and Access Solutions (DAS) business segment within the EMEIA Division is looking for an embedded software enigneer to join the Wireless Lock product unit in Kraków (Zabierzów).

What would you do as an Embedded Software Engineer

You would join a skilled agile firmware development team dedicated to developing state of art wireless locks products and systems that enables secure, real-time electronic locking without complex wiring. You would collaborate with hardware teams developing the electronics and with software teams developing related mobile apps and cloud software communicating with the device firmware.

You would also:

  • Contribute to planning activities by analyzing requirements, creating specifications, and breaking down implementation work into epics and user stories.
  • Investigate and resolve customer-reported issues.
  • Continuously explore, evaluate, and implement new technologies.

We believe that you are an experienced Embedded Software Engineer who enjoys working with firmware development in an agile environment.

The skills and experience we are looking for

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 3+ years of embedded firmware development, excellent programming skills in C, and experience with ARM Cortex MCUs (M0–M4)
  • Strong low‑level debugging skills, including the use of tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g. FreeRTOS) as well as bare‑metal development
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and unit & integration testing
  • Technical education in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred), and fluency in English, both written and spoken

Ideally you also have experience with several of the following: wireless technologies such as BLE and Zigbee, low-energy battery powered products, RFID and NFC credential technologies (e.g. Seos, MIFARE DESFire), communication protocols, cryptography and cybersecurity, python, Scrum and SAFe agile methodologies.

You’re a proactive and open-minded individual who takes initiative and enjoys learning. As a natural problem solver, you focus on solutions rather than obstacles. You thrive in cross-functional teams, value collaboration, and are always ready to support others while also seeking help when needed. You share our belief in lean and agile principles and enjoy working in an environment where diverse expertise comes together to drive successful outcomes.
