We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing team in Malta as a Quality Assurance Engineer!

As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer the applicant will be responsible for testing solutions (internal and 3rd party) ensuring fit for use, and fit for purpose. They will need to liaise with the Software Development (SD) function, DevOps, and third parties as required. Work is independent and collaborative in nature, providing regular updates to management on progress.

As our Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

• Creating test plans/scripts from use cases, user stories, functional specifications.
• Reviewing quality specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
• Testing to make sure products are fit for purpose (meets required functionality, compliance, and capacity) and is fit for use from a usability perspective.
• Investigating and clearly articulating the problem definitions when bugs/issues found.
• Identifying, recording, document thoroughly and tracking bugs.
• Identifying changes to software and hardware solutions, and associated business processes to deliver measurable improvements.
• Performing thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
• Liaising with other functions such as Software Development team.
• Creating training material such as videos and user guides.
• Providing training to end users, and knowledge sharing internally.
• Leading Operational Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, User Acceptance Testing, and finally Customer Acceptance Testing.
• Providing Tier1 early life support for operate related issues post go-live.
• Creation Of Specimen Material and Documents.
• Staying up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies.

What we will love about your background: 

• At least 2-year experience in a software quality assurance role.
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes.
• Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting.
• Knowledge of Microsoft server, and/or Linux operating systems.
• Experience with test/bug-logging tools (desirable).
• Experience with unit testing frameworks, mocking frameworks (desirable).
• In-depth understanding of Java, Python, C++ and/or XML (desirable).

Your Experience and Education include:             

• Higher level education in software engineering or computer science or have 3 years of equivalent experience.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field desirable, but not essential.
