Senior System Administrator
Location: Xiamen, China
Job Summary:
Responsible for server-side maintenance of engineering applications, and client-side configurations of those applications on user workstations.
Responsible for comprehensive understanding and administration of Product Data Management software PTC Windchill ProjectLink including best-practices, in order to ensure engineering data integrity and availability.
Provides user support as needed.
Main Responsibilities:
- Administers Creo, Windchill PDMLink & ProjectLink software in support of Xiamen Product Development Engineering. Daily administration responsibilities include release and promotion of Engineering documents, resolution of data conflicts, as well as ongoing systems and application related maintenance. Coordinates all activities with Lake Forest Engineering Systems.
- Administers all engineering specific applications including software installation, monitoring of local application servers, set up and maintenance of client workstations.
- Assists in software upgrade and deployment planning and decisions. Ability to organize and implement software application deployments, data migration, software upgrades, and system integration projects within the Xiamen engineering department in coordination with Lake Forest Engineering Systems.
- Enforces engineering department standards as needed to ensure data integrity. Recognizes potential gaps or practices that could threaten data integrity and coordinates actions to remedy with Lake Forest Engineering Systems. Works in close coordination with Lake Forest Engineering Systems and Xiamen Information Systems to plan and perform appropriate backup and recovery strategies. "On-call" for mission critical applications and coordination with Lake Forest as required.
- Monitors systems and applications to ensure that AAAR policies are adhered to [i.e. the loading of unlicensed or unauthorized software, downloads, plug-ins, etc.] and coordinates corrective action with Xiamen Engineering Manager, Information Systems, and Lake Forest Engineering Systems as appropriate.
- Maintains hardware, software, user, and usage logs. Monitors and tracks license usage, software requirements and performance of applications on engineering workstations. Recommends and coordinates with Lake Forest Engineering Systems to implement engineering hardware cascades and upgrades.
- Supports development engineering users with application troubleshooting, data transfer between applications, and analysis of user training requirements. Coordinates development of training materials and “best practices” with Lake Forest Engineering Systems as needed to guide departmental usage of engineering software.
- Provides monthly tracking report on current projects, activities and systems status. Reporting to include but not limited to disk usage and capacity, application data refresh monitoring, forward looking resource planning, status log of backup and recoveries, repair and maintenance logs.
- Supports Lake Forest Engineering Systems and the Information Systems department in the management of engineering server lifecycle: resource planning, acquisition, deployment, monitoring, disk capacity planning and management, backup, recovery, troubleshooting, repairs and decommission.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Creo application administration experience mandatory. Windchill PDMLink & ProjectLink administration experience highly desirable.
- Familiar with database and web application technologies.
Technical/Functional Competencies:
- Must be fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- 3-5 years of both Creo & Windchill administration experience required. Proven knowledge of core functionality.
- Experienced with Microsoft server hardware & software including writing and executing batch files.
- Familiarity with MS Access, SQL, or Oracle database technologies including the ability to write and execute queries against data.
- Competent in Microsoft workstation and server technology. MTSE Certification highly desirable.
- Java programming a plus.
