Training Specialist

Great news! We are currently seeking a Training Specialist that will be based at our Vaughan, Ontario Canada Headquarters. This is an in-office role.
Job Summary
As the Training Specialist, you’ll be responsible for conducting and delivering ASSA ABLOY product trainings, seminars, workshops, and schools, both live and virtual, for Contract Hardware, Wholesale Distributors, Security Professionals, Locksmiths, Systems Integrators, Architects, End Users and internal employees.
You’ll work closely with product specialists, subject matter experts, trainers, marketing, sales reps, customers, and other key stakeholders to ensure that our content is current and relevant and that objectives are established and met for each training session.
This role reports to the Director of Business Development at DSS Canada. Depending on experience and training credentials, the title for this role may be changed to Training Manager.
Role Responsibilities:
- Own responsibility for product expertise on Mechanical and Electromechanical brands to deliver on-demand training materials to Canadian market, with additional focus on Ontario
- Lead ‘Train the Trainer’ programs for Agency sales teams and in-house Trainers with focus on select training courses
- Leverage the ASSA ABLOY Academy and in-house developed resources to create a customer training program for key customer and new employee onboarding, including a process to track and communicate completion of courses with client and their leadership
- Work in conjunction with other Portfolio Specialists to provide ongoing product and training updates as part of regularly scheduled “all sales” training sessions
- Deliver training programs to both Customers and Employees
- Become an expert on ASSA ABLOY Academy resources and participate in all DSS training team strategy, implementation and development activities to bring these to Canada
- Own and develop relationships with brand-level factory trainers and create ongoing plans to bring these resources to Canada for additional training at customer and end user levels
- Plan, coordinate and share in the delivery of in-territory specialized training for key customers, projects or end-users
- Create and plan for quarterly training and development sessions led by brand-level training staff but supported by Training Manager to support new products and relevant new brands in mechanical/electromechanical portfolio
- Work with sales leaders and executive leadership on the development and delivery of possible training events, customer events, training resources, etc.
- Collaborate and provide materials, support and expertise for DHI Canada initiatives that drive awareness and leadership of ASSA ABLOY brands
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Adult education certification an asset
- 5 years’ prior training, teaching, sales, or related experience
- Knowledge of commercial doors and frames, architectural hardware with a specific focus on access control/electro-mechanical products
- Experience with conducting instructor-led training workshops, both classroom and hands-on product installations

- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to organize broad information from numerous sources into cohesive, usable, and effective training content
- Excellent interpersonal skills, to build networks and relationships
- Excellent written, verbal (English) skills, and visual graphics design skills
- Good organizational skills, creative ability, and attention to detail
- Excellent public speaking skills, including facilitating large groups
Physical Demands
- Travel up to 40% of the time across Canada, and occasionally in the U.S.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of sample and display material for presentations
- Valid drivers’ license in good standing
