Tool & Die Technician

     

 

Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is looking for a Tool and Die Technician.  This position will be responsible for supporting stamping dies and roll form tolling through out the plant. Make, maintain dies and roll form tooling while working with production throughout the plant for various machining needs. This shift will be a 1st shift, Monday-Thurdsay, 5:00am to 3:00pm. Overtime as required. 

 

What you will be doing:

  • Repair of metal stamping dies including sharpening, cleaning, and refurbishing
  • Repair and maintenance of tube mill cut off dies
  • Work with press/mill operators to remedy part quality issues
  • Supporting maintenance department with various machining needs and projects
  • Machining of various die components and other components needed for the plant using equipment such as mills, lathes, surface, grinders, and CNC equipment
  • Set up and tear down of roll form tooling
  • Cleaning and polishing of roll form tooling
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams

 

The skills and experience you need:

Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Tech School
  • Formal Apprenticeship/Journeyman

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of experience making or maintaining metal stamping dies
  • Experience with roll form tooling and processes
  • Ability to trouble shoot tooling issues in the press or on the roll forming mills
  • 5 or more years of manual machining experience with knee mills, toolroom lathes, bandsaws, surface grinders
  • Experience running and programming CNC lathes and mills using conversational programming
  • Ability to program a wire EDM machine with MasterCam
  • Experience welding tool steel and other ferrous metals
