Quality Assurance Tech

 

Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician.  This position will be responsible for generating and reporting of data to QC & manufacturing departments. Technician performs document control responsibilities, process improvement activities and provides support for manufacturing.  The QA Technician performs inspections and audits of manufactured and purchased products insuring to meet Ameristar, industry and governmental standards and/or specifications.  Technicians respond to and investigate quality issues collecting accurate, detailed data, and communicate findings and/or analysis to appropriate parties.  QA Technicians utilize various quality systems for data collection and measure parts using a variety of metrological devices, gages, and inspection tools. 

What you will be doing:

  • Work as a hands-on Technician with responsibilities to improve manufacturing operations.
  • Check prints, set-up sheets, work instructions and other controlled documents for accuracy.
  • Perform inspection on parts/materials per drawing or other specifications.
  • Identify and quarantine potentially non-conforming material.
  • Update spreadsheets, generate charts and graphs.
  • Perform process audits per plan.
  • Perform required testing on coating specimens & maintenance of equipment.
  • Daily use of gages and/or metrological devices. Devices may include calipers, micrometers, gage pins, height gages, gloss meter, mil thickness tester and hardness tester.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments

 

The skills and experience you need:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience of utilizing SPC and complex data analysis techniques. Prefer knowledge and/or experience in Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma
  • Experience as a QA Technician in a high volume manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to analyze data for integrity and trends. Report out to drive cross functional activity
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience required
  • Knowledge of measurement and use of metrology devices/tools
  • Reading & understanding of engineering drawings, work instructions, SOPs, etc.
  • Reading, understanding, and implementing industry standards i.e. ASTM, ISO, etc.
  • Working knowledge of basic quality concepts i.e. Continuous Improvement, Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis
