Product Manager - Barriers
Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is looking for a Product Manager. This position will be responsible for both product planning and product marketing. This includes managing the product throughout the Product Lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering to deliver winning products. The Crash Barrier product line includes both active and static barriers.
What you will be doing:
- Confer with sales, marketing, production, and engineering to discuss new product plan specifications and procedures, making detailed plans and timelines to accomplish goals.
- Develop formal product development objectives and schedules for all phases of product development and introduction to market.
- Coordinate with other internal departments to manage each product through the new product development life cycle.
- Establish, maintain, and build relationships with customers and internal departments to help facilitate the timely completion of projects.
- Communicate to senior management updates on all products under development, and their stage of development.
- Provide technical expertise and training to other departments in support of product development.
- Work with the marketing department to develop and maintain product specifications and all other product collateral materials.
- Provide support to sales and marketing regarding product presentations and customer support.
- Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and operations to research new product ideas and develop product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
- Update job knowledge by remaining current on regulations and requirements, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, etc., and also take steps to increase real-world product application knowledge.
The skills and experience you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a similar technical field, or field experience equivalent.
- Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record and knowledge of technical products.
- Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base.
- Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports.
- Must be a good verbal communicator and possess the analytical skill to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
- Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
- Good understanding of ASTM F2656 and ASTM F3016 standards.
- Experience working with crash barriers.
- Participation in crash testing products at a qualified test lab is a bonus.
