Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Mechanical Desing Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, and launching new products, from concept through production. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, quality, and marketing, to ensure that new products meet performance, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Design and Development:
- Lead and contribute to the design and development of new products, ensuring they meet customer needs, safety standards, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop detailed product specifications, 3D models, and engineering drawings using Solidworks CAD software.
- Perform simulations, prototyping, and testing to validate design concepts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, procurement, marketing, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of new products into the production line.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components for product prototypes and production.
- Act as a liaison between engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Project Management:
- Manage the complete product development lifecycle from ideation, prototyping, testing, and iteration to production launch.
- Create and maintain project timelines, ensuring that product development goals are met on time and within budget.
- Participate in regular design reviews and project updates with stakeholders.
- Testing and Validation:
- Conduct rigorous testing of new products to ensure they meet design and performance specifications, including functional, environmental, and durability tests.
- Analyze and interpret test data, making necessary adjustments to designs as needed.
- Ensure that products meet regulatory and quality standards.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest and implement continuous improvements in product design and manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest technological advancements, manufacturing techniques, and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in product development or engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks. Driveworks experience is a plus.
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing and product assembly.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing certifications are a plus.
