EHS Specialist

 

Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is looking for an employee focused, hands on EHS professional  to join our manufacturing and management team located in Tulsa, OK.   The EHS Specialist will be responsible for developing, managing, and implementing environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations to meet the needs of interested parties, including those defined in the ISO 14001 environmental management system. The EHS Specialist will help drive a proactive, positive, EHS culture, and prevent accidents/injuries through program implementation at all segment locations.

 

Qualifications: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet expectations of each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required:

 

Help drive a proactive, positive environmental, health and safety (EHS) culture;

Support all team members in pursuit of continual improvement in EHS;

Develop, prioritize, plan, and implement EHS policies and procedures in compliance with local,

state, and federal rules and regulations including OSHA, NIOSH, DOT, and ISO;

Ensure risk assessments are conducted for each process;

Perform EHS surveys and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations

for corrective or preventive measures;

Plan and conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training;

Follow-up to ensure corrective actions have been followed and necessary measures have been

implemented;

Develops and conducts post-accident investigation procedures and prepares reports identifying

possible root causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management;

Respond to EHS related complaints or issues and interface with OSHA as needed;

Record and file all required legal (OSHA & DOT) documentation;

Suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for EHS issues and provide guidance to management and directors;

Own workers compensation program;

Develop and communicate EHS topics to the entire organization, track training, support employees with online safety tool, review/track/closed hot work permits, track/record incident rates, track/update/review SDSs, complete monthly corporate incident/safety improvement report;

Interface with team members in a professional, respectful manner even when disciplinary action is needed;

Assist with ISO 14001:2015 as needed.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five years minimum related

experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Skills & Experience:

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,

technical procedures, or government regulations.

· Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and policy and procedure manuals.

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of directors,

managers, and employees.

· Ability to travel one week per month.

· Demonstrate leadership skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
