The Quality Manager will lead and oversee all quality related activities within Third Millennium’s Pontypool operations.

This role ensures compliance with corporate standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations while driving continuous improvement in product quality, processes, and environmental management systems.

Essential Duties 

  • Execution of all duties in accordance with the requirements of the company’s quality system.
  • To ensure that all responsible staff in the company are adequately trained in the operation, audit and monitoring of the Q/ISMS. 

 

Primary Duties 

  • Oversee all QMS activities, such as conducting ISO 9001/ ISO 27001 internal audits and Supplier audits as needed.
  • Will be managing all external audits and be responsible for our certificate, working with our Global Quality Management Team.
  • Collaborate with technical support teams to address field issues, close feedback loops, and integrate learnings into product and process enhancements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external audits (e.g., ISO, customer, regulatory, UL, etc.). Manage audit readiness, responses, and follow-up actions.
  • Take ownership of relevant KPIs, such as Delivered Quality, RAN, MRB, and CAPA.
  • Manage the RAN process end-to-end, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and trend reporting to reduce recurrence and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Lead quality planning and execution throughout the NPI lifecycle.
  • Ensure quality requirements are defined, validated, and verified during design, prototyping, pilot builds, and production ramp-up.
  • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure robust product launches.
  • Direct interaction with Customers on potential issues or complaints about product quality, packaging, or processes.
  • Partner with R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure quality is embedded in the design and launch of new products.
  • Prepare and lead periodic management reviews, presenting quality performance metrics, audit outcomes, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events and CI initiatives across departments, fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and quality ownership.
  • Conduct risk assessments for new and existing processes, products, and suppliers. Implement mitigation plans to proactively manage quality risks.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and impactful presentations to senior leadership.
  • Communicate quality performance, risks, and strategic initiatives with confidence and clarity.
  • Oversee development and implementation of training content to ensure compliance with standard regulations, procedures, and other requirements.

 

Quality Leadership 

  • Own and manage the Quality function for the Pontypool site, ensuring adherence to ISO standards and customer specifications.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

 

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with Third Millennium, HID, ASSA ABLOY, and customer requirements, codes of practice, and relevant legislation.
  • Oversee audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

 

Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement projects in a lean manufacturing environment to meet or exceed performance and quality goals.
  • Monitor and report on quality KPIs and operational goals.
  • Control departmental expenditure within budgetary limits.

 

Environmental, Health and Safety Responsibility

  • To ensure that a H&S System is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the latest legislation.
  • Execution of the company’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • To advise the company on the requirements, policies and procedures for all aspects of health and safety.
  • Ensure that all employees adhere to company policies and procedures. Maintain company’s policies and procedures in accordance with government guidelines.
  • To conduct, assess and document all risks within the company.
  • First point of contact for company employees, for any issues concerning health and safety, ensuring that all accidents are reported in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and manage significant environmental risks.
  • Handle external communications related to environmental matters promptly and effectively.

 

Customer Focus

  • Act as the primary point of contact for quality-related customer queries and audits.
  • Ensure timely resolution of quality issues to maintain customer satisfaction.

 

Essential Qualifications 

  • Preferred: Degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or Operations Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control, preferably in the access control, electronics, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards, QMS, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience in quality assurance, audits, CAPA, and risk management.
  • Background in operations management and procurement/supply chain.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Leadership skills for team development and succession planning.
  • Understanding of health & safety and environmental regulations.

 

Work Requirements

  • Compliance with all relevant HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.
  • Travel and fieldwork, including international travel may be required. Therefore, employee must possess, or be able to acquire a valid passport.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which you are hired.
