Job Description- Field Project Engineer

To provide operational leadership to the Preinstallation Team, Key or Reference projects, Installation and setup of SKIDATA Japan access control equipment and software services, and other third-party equipment. This role includes a combination of hands-on installation, team leadership, and an escalation point in the field, depending on project requirements.  The position requires the Team Leader to be actively involved in the coordination, installation, and commissioning of new or asset refreshment equipment and contribute to the delivery of on-time, on-budget, on-spec projects.

1. Administration

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Provide accurate and timely information for the completion of the predictive model on a weekly basis, ensuring that the information in the predictive model is (within reason) equal to the time input to ASTEA.
  • Attend to jobs and tasks in the priority provided as allocated by position Manager or other appropriate manager.
  • Ensure jobs are completed accurately in ASTEA on a timely basis in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Complete installation and commissioning paperwork as required.
  • Completion of Warranty and Repairs Spare Parts and Refurbished parts paperwork in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Submission of purchase requests for local parts in accordance with Company policy.
  • Take responsibility for record keeping of used and unused equipment/parts in your possession and ensure that parts are transferred between Project and General Stock in a timely manner on project completion.
  • Notify Project Coordinator or Project Manager or in his/her absence, Senior Manager of any key developments related to assigned tasks.
  • Respond to Project Managers and Senior Managers on requests & enquiries.
  • Ensures team members are also compliant.
  • Overtime, after-hours call-outs, and scheduled works are attended to, and associated administration is completed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and SKIDATA Policies. Ensures that scheduled works are conducted within allocated hours, without excess overtime being incurred. Ensures that overtime does not exceed the budget.
  • Ensures that all overtime is approved for the team prior to commencement.

3. Installation and Fitting

 

 

  • Assist with pre-sales procedures, customer visits, writing specifications and requirements. Ensure all relevant information (eg, preinstallation checklist / requisites) has been provided by project manager or service manager responsible, prior to commencing preinstallation works.
  • Assist with customer Solution Design
  • Assist with Project Coordination and Planning
  • Ensure that all project documentation is completed in full and filed as advised by the Project Manager
  • Ensure preparation of installation and fitting manuals is completed and content is regularly reviewed to ensure accuracy.
  • Pre-installation and assembly of equipment and retrofits.
  • Installation and fitting of equipment in accordance with Industry standards, Company policy, and Client requirements, and the Installation plan as directed by Project and Solutions management. 
  • Articulate and responsive communications to Clients or reference to the appropriate person.
  • Ensures Commissioning and Testing of equipment is completed in accordance with Company policy and procedure, and customer signoff achieved.
  • Observation and monitoring of equipment functioning.
  • Notify issues / faults & recommend solutions to Project Manager for installation/task in the event technician identifies unreported faults. e.g. Recurring faults on same equipment.

2.Equipment Guarantee and Repairs, software setup and software review.

  • Ensure the team approaches all work in a safe manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular, accurate, and timely equipment repairs and setup, review, and maintenance on software, firmware, and hardware during guarantee periods.
  • Undertake fault-related review and solution at all sites as required for final project completion.
  • Ensure own and team’s understanding of and compliance with Company procedures for reporting (equipment faults and shortages, etc) to staff at all sites.
  • Report to Project Management and Senior Manager on customer requirements and customer innovations, for market intelligence or trends.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to Project Managers and Purchasers on forecasted future equipment needs and inventory requirements.

  • Ordering of parts or materials over the amount of $100.

  • Electronics, engineering or Mechanical background
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Practical skills with tools and maintenance.
  • Fault finding skills
  • SKIDATA Certified Engineer
  • Advanced knowledge of SKIDATA equipment and services

Desired Requirements

  • Prior experience with parking equipment/building access/security.
  • Qualification i.e. Electrical Mechanic/Advanced Electronics Diploma or degree. Software qualification also beneficial.
  • Computer Programming background (Optional)

  • Over the period of employment, there is ongoing learning and training that takes place.  This covers the Skidata parking system and third-party integrations in a more specific/detailed way.  The topics that are covered are the programming of the Skidata system, specific wiring and layout of the Skidata System, as well as improving general computer knowledge.
