What you would do as Electromechanical Design Engineer
You will be responsible for the electromechanical design of our products, which include motors and mechanisms, kinetic energy harvesters, motor and generator drivers, etc. You will be engaged from the conception phase of new products, over the production until the end of life of the product.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and perform electromagnetic simulations of electromechanical systems using finite element analysis (FEA) tools to support design development and performance evaluation;
- Create and maintain simulation models and analysis tools for full-system simulations using MATLAB and/or Python in combination with FEM software for modelling;
- Conduct system-level design optimization and parametric studies to improve performance, efficiency, and reliability;
- Develop and implement experimental test setups using National Instruments (NI) data acquisition hardware to validate prototype concepts;
- Define test plans and develop test setups to evaluate prototype performance under relevant operating conditions;
- Collaborate closely with mechanical and electronics engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and optimal overall performance.
- Support mechanical and electronics engineering teams in building and commissioning test setups for prototype validation and performance testing.
The skills and experience you need
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
- Proven experience using finite element analysis (FEA) software for electromagnetic simulations;
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic system operating principles, including electric motors and generators;
- Knowledge of electric machine design concepts such as winding design, magnetic materials, losses, and efficiency optimization;
- Programming experience in MATLAB and/or Python for analysis, modelling, or automation tasks;
- Ability to perform design optimization and parametric studies;
- Experience using National Instruments (NI) data acquisition hardware to develop test setups and evaluate the performance of prototype concepts;
- Ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical and electronics engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance;
- Knowledge of Atlassian products (Jira and Confluence) is a plus;
- Good communication skills (English, Dutch is a plus).
