Technical Product Owner

Are you passionate about bridging business needs and technical solutions in complex access control systems? ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions is looking for a Technical Product Owner to join our team in Stockholm and help drive the development of our ARX system.

In this role, you will act as the technical link between Product Management and R&D, ensuring that market and customer requirements are translated into scalable, high-quality technical solutions. You will work closely with Product Managers, developers, and architects, contributing to both strategic product direction and daytoday development activities.

You’ll join a collaborative and evolving environment where the role is still being shaped, giving you a unique opportunity to influence how we work and how our products evolve. This is a role for someone who enjoys combining technical understanding with stakeholder collaboration and structured execution. In this role, you’ll thrive in a culture that values engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous learning, empowering you to build a career you can be proud of.

What you will do as our Technical Product Owner

As a Technical Product Owner, you will act as the key technical bridge between Product Management and R&D, ensuring that customer and business needs are translated into scalable, highquality technical solutions. You will work closely with Product Managers, development teams, and architects, combining hands-on involvement in development processes with a broader system perspective.

In this role, you will not only support daytoday development activities, but also contribute to shaping how we work, improving processes, strengthening collaboration across teams, and ensuring that our solutions are sustainable over time. You will play a central role in clarifying requirements, aligning stakeholders, and guiding teams through the full development lifecycle, while keeping both technical feasibility and business value in focus.

For example, you would:

  • Act as the technical link between Product Management and R&D by translating business needs into technical direction, supporting decision-making, and ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
  • Support and advise R&D in system architecture discussions and technical design, while ensuring that solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with product requirements and long-term strategy.
  • Own the breakdown of product and market requirements into clear user stories and technical specifications, and continuously clarify and refine these together with the Product Manager and development teams.
  • Ensure that requirements are feasible, well-defined, and prioritized, and support teams throughout the development lifecycle as the goto person for technical and functional questions across software and related domains.
  • Co-own the product backlog together with the Product Manager, balancing business value, technical dependencies, and risk, and actively contribute in sprint planning, refinement, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to validation and acceptance of deliverables, ensuring alignment with agreed requirements for functionality, quality, and performance in close collaboration with the Product Manager.
  • Drive continuous improvement by contributing to better ways of working, supporting cross-team collaboration, analyzing customer issues, and effectively communicating technical concepts to stakeholders such as Product Management, Sales, customers, and installers.

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 5 years of relevant experience (e.g. Technical Product Owner, Product Owner, Tech Lead, or similar role).
  • Experience in software development, with hands‑on experience considered a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to translate market or business requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Fluency in English and Swedish.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a simple and clear way.

The ideal candidate has experience with access control systems, security solutions, or similar technical product domains. You also have a pragmatic mindset with a strong sense of ownership and urgency. Familiarity with system integration, APIs, and distributed systems is considered a strong advantage.

You are a team player who can also work independently, and you enjoy working in a role where the scope can evolve based on business needs and your own strengths. You are curious, solution‑oriented, and motivated by improving both products and ways of working.
