System Test Engineer

System Test Engineer

At ASSA ABLOY you will contribute to the system and functional testing of ARX, a Scandinavian security system that combines software, servers, controllers, readers and physical security hardware in environments where quality, reliability, and performance are critical.

If you enjoy hands-on testing, improving automation, and working closely with developers and technical stakeholders, this role will likely resonate.

Why this role matters

For a security system, every part of the solution needs to work together reliably. As a System Test Engineer, you'll help ensure new features and system behaviour meet the standards expected by customers, while contributing to the quality of a solution that connects software with real-world security hardware.

The role

This is a hands-on testing role focused on ensuring that the complete ARX solution works as expected. You'll test new features, verify system behaviour, investigate defects and work across both software and hardware environments to help maintain a high level of quality and reliability.

You'll collaborate closely with developers, testers and other stakeholders, contributing to both manual and automated testing while developing deep product knowledge of a complex access control system used in real-world security environments. The role offers the opportunity to build expertise across software, hardware and automation while gaining a complete system perspective that few testing roles provide.

What you'll work on

  • Plan, prioritise and execute system and functional testing for new features and system behaviour
  • Run manual and automated tests across software and hardware-based test environments, including Client/Server architecture, Distributed Control Units, Readers and Motor-locks
  • Build, maintain and coordinate testing within hardware-based laboratory environments used to validate complete system functionality
  • Improve test automation, processes and methodologies using Python, Selenium and Robot Framework
  • Troubleshoot issues and defects, working closely with developers and other stakeholders
  • Perform functional, performance, stress and reliability testing across the complete system

What will help you succeed

  • Solid experience in system, software or integration testing
  • Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing, ideally with Python, Selenium and Robot Framework
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with developers and other stakeholders
  • A structured, analytical and proactive approach, with the curiosity to learn a complex product and the initiative to improve how things are done
  • Fluent English and the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have: Experience with hardware-based test environments, Java, Embedded C, access control or security products, and Swedish language skills.
