Product Sustainability Specialist

Are you passionate about shaping more sustainable products through data-driven insights and life cycle thinking? ASSA ABLOY is looking for a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Product Sustainability Specialist to strengthen the environmental performance of our product portfolio. You will work closely with R&D, engineering, sourcing, and product management to integrate sustainability into product development from concept through industrialization.

In this role, you will translate environmental impact data into practical design improvements and long-term reduction strategies. You will act as a key contributor in embedding eco design and circular principles into our innovation processes in a collaborative culture that empowers you to build a career to be proud of.

What you will do as our Product Sustainability Specialist

As our Product Sustainability Specialist, you will perform and guide Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) according to ISO 14040/44 methodology and support product teams in reducing environmental impact across the full life cycle.

You will work hands-on with environmental data while also influencing technical decisions, ensuring sustainability becomes a natural and integrated part of product development.

You would also:

  • Conduct cradle-to-grave Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) using tools such as GaBi or SimaPro, applying relevant databases including Ecoinvent, and translate analytical findings into actionable product improvement initiatives.
  • Identify environmental impact hotspots and drive eco design and circular design initiatives within product development projects.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams from early concept phases through industrialization to ensure sustainable and compliant design decisions.
  • Contribute to GHG accounting methodologies and support product-related sustainability reporting activities.
  • Develop and implement practical tools, templates, and training materials to strengthen sustainability integration across product teams.
  • Monitor evolving environmental regulations and proactively ensure product compliance and future readiness while promoting life cycle and systems thinking across multidisciplinary teams.

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience within product sustainability, environmental impact analysis, or related areas
  • Proven experience in performing LCA according to ISO 14040/44 methodology
  • Hands-on experience with LCA software such as GaBi or SimaPro and familiarity with databases like Ecoinvent.
  • Experience working close to product development or technical engineering teams
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written).

The ideal candidate combines analytical depth with practical application. You are structured, collaborative, and comfortable working in cross-functional environments where influence matters more than authority. With a systems-thinking mindset and strong stakeholder engagement skills, you help engineering teams make informed sustainability trade-offs that balance performance, compliance, and long-term environmental impact.
