Network Engineer

What you would do as our IT Network Engineer
As an IT Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our network infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing network systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business needs and IT operations.
You would also:
- Manage and optimize network infrastructure, including switching network design, routing, firewall configurations, and VPN gateways.
- Ensure network security and compliance, conducting risk assessments, assisting in audits, and maintaining security best practices.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, including WiFi connectivity, IP Address Management (IPAM), and log aggregation strategies (e.g., NetFlow).
- Configure and maintain network hardware, such as Cisco switches and Palo Alto firewalls, ensuring optimal security and efficiency.
- Collaborate and mentor, working with system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and junior engineers while engaging with stakeholders to align network solutions with business needs.
The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who has:
- 2+ years of experience in network management, including switching, routing, and firewall administration.
- Strong understanding of common network services such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, and SNTP.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco switches (upgrades, configuration, security) and a solid understanding of routing protocols.
- Experience with WiFi management and troubleshooting, ensuring reliable network connectivity.
- Ability to monitor and diagnose network performance issues (e.g., using NetFlow)
- Fluency in English and good understanding of Swedish.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative IT professional who works closely with system administrators and cybersecurity experts to maintain a secure, efficient network. They mentor junior engineers, provide technical support, and adapt solutions to evolving business needs. Staying ahead of security threats, they continuously enhance network defenses. Active Directory, Infoblox/SolarWinds, and Cisco certifications are valued, while expertise in IPAM, change management, log aggregation, VPN gateways, SD-WAN, and Palo Alto firewalls is a plus.
