Embedded Hardware Developer

Are you passionate about designing reliable, secure, and future-ready embedded electronics that power innovative products? ASSA ABLOY is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Embedded Hardware Developer to play a key role in developing the next generation of our electronic solutions. Based in Stockholm, Sweden you will help build robust, scalable, and high-quality hardware that enables secure and seamless product performance trusted by customers worldwide. In this role, you'll thrive in a collaborative, innovative culture that empowers you to build a career to be proud of.

What you will do as our Embedded Hardware Developer

As our Embedded Hardware Developer, you will design, develop, and validate hardware solutions that meet demanding requirements for performance, security, and reliability. You will take responsibility from concept and schematic design through PCB layout review, prototyping, testing, documentation, and final validation for production readiness, while working closely with firmware and cross-functional engineering teams.

You would also:

  • Design and develop embedded electronics and PCB solutions, including schematic capture and layout reviews
  • Select and integrate suitable microcontrollers, sensors, components, and communication interfaces (SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, etc.)
  • Conduct testing, debugging, optimization, and validation to ensure quality, reliability, and production readiness
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, including EMC/EMI considerations and best-practice design principles
  • Collaborate closely with firmware and interdisciplinary teams while documenting designs and contributing to continuous improvement

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 3+ years of experience working with embedded hardware development and PCB design.
  • Hands-on experience with atleast one modern PCB design tool (Altium, KiCad, or similar).
  • Good knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded systems, plus experience with some relevant communication protocols (for example SPI, I²C, UART, or CAN).
  • Experience with hardware testing, debugging, and validation — ideally including EMC/EMI awareness.
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written).

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and open-minded engineer who enjoys working closely with others to solve complex challenges. You are structured, analytical, and take pride in delivering reliable, high-quality results. With strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail, you approach tasks with curiosity, ownership, and a practical mindset, ensuring designs are both technically sound and fit for real-world production.
