Category Manager IT
Are you passionate about shaping IT procurement strategies and driving value in a global, matrix organization? ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions is looking for an experienced and strategic Category Manager IT to join our team.
In this key role, you will lead procurement activities with a primary focus on the IT category, while also potentially supporting other indirect categories. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, including CIO/CTO organizations, to drive cost efficiency, ensure compliant IT contracts aligned with legal, security, and data privacy requirements and strengthen governance across the division.
In this role, you'll thrive in a collaborative, innovative culture that empowers you to build a career to be proud of.
What you will do as our Category Manager IT
As our Category Manager IT, you will take ownership of defining and implementing category strategies for IT procurement, ensuring we select the right suppliers, optimize spend, and create long-term value for the business.
You will play a key role in strengthening procurement governance, driving cross-divisional alignment, and ensuring transparency across IT spend and performance.
You would also:
- Define and implement IT category strategies to optimize spend, streamline the supplier base, and align procurement efforts with business needs across the division.
- Ensure compliant IT contracts in close collaboration with Legal, Security, and Data Privacy (DPA), aligning with internal policies and external regulations.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including CIO/CTO, Finance, and local entities, to identify, initiate, and execute savings projects, while engaging and supporting local entities in driving compliance and sourcing best practices in a decentralized environment
- Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, favorable conditions, and long-term supplier performance
- Develop, implement, and monitor KPIs for the IT category (Spend development, Savings, Cost Avoidance, Payment Terms, Contract Coverage, Code of Conduct, Project Pipeline, etc.), and ensure visibility of IT spend across the division through robust reporting frameworks
- Establish and continuously improve routines, processes, and governance for IT procurement, including ways of working with Security, Legal, and other key functions, strengthening data-driven decision-making
- Drive cross-divisional collaboration and identify synergies within AAGS, as well as with Group-level IT contracts and other divisions
- Actively contribute to the Indirect Spend team, drive continuous improvement in sourcing activities across the division, and, depending on your experience, take ownership of additional indirect categories (e.g., Professional Services).
The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who has:
- 8+ years of experience in category management, with at least 5 years focused on IT procurement.
- Strong experience working with IT contract compliance, including legal, data privacy, and security considerations.
- Proven track record of delivering measurable results on procurement KPIs, including savings and cost optimization, in a complex international environment.
- Strong experience in managing IT categories, including software licenses, hardware, and other IT-related services.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
You are a proactive, data-driven and structured professional with a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach. You are comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity, and you enjoy driving change in a global organization.
You build strong relationships, challenge the status quo, and know how to balance governance with business needs. Most importantly, you are passionate about creating value through smart sourcing, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
