What would you do as our Credit Controller

As a key player in our global Marine operations, you will take ownership of the credit control process — ensuring timely invoice payments and minimizing bad debt losses. You will play a critical role in safeguarding our financial health by evaluating credit applications, monitoring account activities, and enforcing compliance with company policies across customers, suppliers, and other business partners.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team and directly support strategic decision-making by implementing measures to mitigate financial risks. You will report to the Head of Finance Marine and play a key role in driving operational excellence within our global business. As a senior professional, you will be responsible for overseeing the AR process, ensuring ownership, and providing support to the AR team.

 

You would also be responsible for:

  • Oversee credit control processes with sales, projects, and finance; assess creditworthiness, perform credit checks, and set credit limits to ensure timely customer payments.
  •  Manage accounts receivable, resolve payment disputes, and implement strategies to recover debts and minimize bad debt losses.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, export control requirements, and supplier standards covering quality, ethics, and sustainability.
  • Support internal audits to verify adherence to company policies across customer and supplier interactions.
  • Prepare and analyze credit risk and delinquency reports, recommend risk mitigation actions, and provide regular updates to management and sales teams.

 

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Proven background in credit control or a similar financial role; experience with SAP S/4HANA preferred.
  • Strong numeracy, attention to detail, proficiency in accounting and office software, and excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to handle challenging clients professionally, maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Skilled in analyzing financial data and making sound decisions regarding credit and compliance.

They communicate clearly and professionally, even in difficult conversations, and are comfortable working closely with both internal teams and external clients. A proactive approach, problem-solving mindset, and the ability to stay calm and focused when challenges arise are key. The ideal candidate also acts with integrity, handles sensitive information with care, and is always looking for ways to improve processes and outcomes.
