Position summary

The role leads divisional tax and treasury functions across GCSEA ensuring compliance with local regulations while driving tax planning, reporting, and transfer pricing strategies. The position oversees audits, supports complex transactions such as M&A and restructuring, and partners with finance controllers, FSSC leaders, and external consultants to safeguard financial integrity.

TEAM STRUCTURE

The role collaborates with Finance Controllers, FSSC leaders, and external consultants to lead tax and treasury across Greater China and South East Asia

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Tax Compliance: Take ownership of tax risk management. Ensure division’s entities tax practises complies with their country tax laws and regulations.
  2. Tax Planning: Identify and guide tax planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities.
  3. Tax Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns and reporting in HFM.
  4. Transfer Pricing: Manage transfer pricing policies and documentation.
  5. Tax Audits: Lead and manage tax audits and disputes.
  6. Cross-Border Collaboration: Enhance collaboration on tax and treasury activities across different divisions within Greater China and South East Asia.
  7. Global Tax Projects: Drive the implementation of the division and global tax projects and initiatives.
  8. Treasury: Funding planning of M&A, restructuring, and dividend, treasury compliance and efficiency.
  9. Consultant Coordination: Work with external consultants on various tax matters.

 

Key Accountability

  1. Using your strong tax and transfer pricing (TP) technical skills to navigate stakeholders through the changing tax landscape.
  2. Support stakeholders in tax and TP on compliance, reporting, reviewing and updating of tax and TP models.
  3. Support and managing the Direct (such as corporate income tax) and all Indirect (such as GST, VAT, Sales tax, Stamp Duties, Payroll, etc.) tax matters for the operations.
  4. Review and approve the documents prepared by the divisional entities’ finance controller for tax instalments payments and ensure corporate income tax return are lodged on time.
  5. Provide tax advice on all taxation matters including areas such as R&D tax deductions, tax incentives etc.
  6. Understanding legislative taxation changes, identify tax exposures and opportunities that align with businesses goals.
  7. Take lead in supervising and management of tax audits and disputes.
  8. Driving the use of technology for preparation of corporate income tax returns, enhance compliance processes, etc.
  9. Review stakeholders’ income tax accounting calculations and assist with reporting in HFM and annual statutory accounts.
  10. Ensuring businesses are aware of tax exposure and impact from asset disposals/structural re-organization & changes/Mergers & acquisitions etc.
  11. Develop, drive and implement tax and transfer pricing policies.
  12. Lead with a strong compliance and integrity mindset.
  13. Work with divisional entities on the annual dividend declaration in compliance with local thin capitalization rules.
  14. Work together with FSSC leaders on the funding of acquisition, organization restructure, dividend payment etc taking into consideration the bank facilities availability and the gearing ratio/limits in compliance with local thin cap rules.
  15. Develop and manage GCSEA treasury policies & procedures.
  16. Custodian banking mandates for division and ensures compliance in line with treasury policy.

 

Selection criteria, Relevant Knowledge, and competencies

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline required.
  2. 10+ years of tax and treasury management experience in multinational companies. Candidates from Big 4 tax consulting firms with 10+ years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
  3. Strong technical knowledge in corporate and indirect taxes.
  4. Ability to identify tax opportunities, advise on incentives, and align strategies with business objectives.
  5. Experience in funding for M&A, restructuring, and dividend planning, ensuring compliance with thin capitalization rules.
  6. Skilled in leading audits, managing disputes, and providing clear tax advice on complex transactions.
  7. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, cross-border coordination, and a compliance-driven mindset.
  8. Possession of a recognized accounting or tax qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is preferred.
  9. Fluency in Chinese and English, both written and spoken.
