HID Global is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who can perform the role in a Unix & Linux RedHat/CentOS environment and related on prem and cloud layered products to ensure compliance with service level agreements and security requirements. This role will interact with a team of clients, peers, and management to help define business requirements.

IdenTrust’s Business Operations Department:  

IdenTrust, part of HID Global, is a public key certificate authority that provides digital certificates to financial institutions, healthcare providers, government agencies and enterprises. The software development team is responsible for developing new applications, enhancing existing applications, solving problems, and resolving defects. The team is based in Salt Lake City. 


As our Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

  • Engage in the planning, design, development, and improvement of processes in a hosting provider environment with a growing cloud presence
  • Assist and help lead Systems Operations team thru an evolution into a DevOps model
  • Be a leader of the Systems team in driving projects and the technology.
  • Mentor junior team members and peers in systems and industry standards.
  • Take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
  • Develop supporting documentation and provide recommendations to other production service groups and engineering personnel
  • Provide input for task and resource management to determine the needs of the team.
  • Periodic after hours (on-call rotation & scheduled) hardware and software maintenance of servers. Requires occasional travel for system implementation, upgrades, or maintenance.
  • Interface with Software Engineers, QA, PKI staff, Network Engineering, DBA’s, and Application product owners in the determination of deadlines & priorities for application, system, and support tasks.
  • Consistently meet SLA's for the services using excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

 

What we will love about your background: 

  • A solid understanding of a *ix operating systems, inter-process communication, file system concepts
  • A keen perception of the impact of your work and a strong inclination toward customer service.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment
  • Experience with cluster management tools (Tanzu, Rancher, Portainer, etc)
  • Experience with container management tools (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm) is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of Infrastructure as code or experience working with Terraform
  • Strong working knowledge of Virtual management tools and technologies, specifically Cisco UCS & VMWare.
  • Experienced System Administration in a highly available server infrastructure
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Operating System security and auditing
  • Working knowledge and understanding of (TCP/IP)
  • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, LDAP
  • Understanding of tape backup/recovery and disaster planning processes
  • Strong Perl and UNIX shell scripting expertise & related utilities
  • Recent experience in deployment of applications using Jboss, Tomcat
  • Working knowledge of Apache web server deployments
  • 5 years of experience working in the technology field. Can be substituted with education
  • Must have experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
