Sales Representative (British Columbia)
Job Summary
The Sales Representative is responsible for servicing, merchandising, and promoting the sale of the company’s consumer packaged goods products within established national retail accounts in an assigned territory. They will also be responsible for hosting product knowledge sessions when necessary to raise product awareness. Additionally, this position is responsible for building consumer loyalty by assisting consumers in selecting products appropriate to their need, through asking questions, listening, recommending products, and influencing the sale. Sales Representative will report directly to the National Account Manager (NAM) within an already established territory. They will model the ASSA ABLOY values and behaviors to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
(80-85%) Execute Monthly Work Plan Strategies at Store Level
- Maintain store presentation standards through building displays, fixture installation, store sets, shelf maintenance, down stock, retrofits, inventory reconciliation, display maintenance and POP installation. Additionally, assist in the building of displays and resets as needed.
- Maintain a regular and timely call cycle to each customer within assigned territory.
- Maximize market share and achieve forecasted sales targets within and outside of the NAM’s Work Plan.
- Meet or exceed sales goals by maintaining store presentation standards through resets, fixture installation, store sets, retrofits, inventory reconciliation, shelf maintenance, display maintenance and point of purchase (POP) materials and installation.
- Executes Planograms then looks for opportunities that drive margin growth, such as incremental display space to drive volume goals.
- Assist retail consumers with the selection and purchase of products, maximizing customer interest and sales levels.
- Provide product knowledge training to store personnel with the intention of allowing them to better drive sales to the end user.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key store level decision makers (Department Managers, Assistant Store Managers, Store Managers and Merchandising teams) for enhancing, growing and driving sales. Additionally, being available to visit a store immediately when contacted by the NAM to help resolve any issues.
- Manage reporting, product knowledge, training and performance of third-party merchandisers.
- Assist with re-merchandising efforts for surrounding territories when needed. Assist in the training of new employees as agreed with direct supervisor.
- Attend promotional and grand openings to help educate customer and employees of ASSA ABLOY products.
- Review and assess returned product to determine if damaged or eligible for resale.
- Assist in all regional trade shows, regional sales meetings, and as required assist other Departments with special events, vacancies or other events.
(15-20 %) Business Process
- Maintain records according to company guidelines and policies for shipping errors, shortages, and defective products as well as completing all reports, surveys, results and other information requests in a timely manner.
- Communicate information to appropriate departments and management regarding competitive products, defective product, warranty issues, changes in accounts, and territory status in an expedient manner.
- Follow up on delivery or order problems as required to ensure the highest level of customer service.
- Provide daily, weekly and monthly tracking of store execution and promotional sell through.
- Assist corporate department with product evaluation, marketing plans etc. as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Profile
- Related post-secondary education, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 or more years previous sales or retail experience, including merchandising, an asset.
Required Skills
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- A strong work ethic, sales ‘hunter’ mentality, and the internal drive to get out in the field and support existing business and/or pursue new business daily.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to use a consultative sales approach.
- A customer-centric orientation and excellent relationship building skills.
- A positive, energetic attitude, Initiative, drive, and out-of-the box thinking.
- Understanding of the P&L process.
Work Environment:
- Physically capable of lifting up to 40 pounds with repeated movements of bending, crouching, kneeling and standing. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to travel up to 85% of the time throughout the assigned region including recurring overnight work trips.
