R&D Manager Mechanical Products

 

 

 

 

Location: Rychnov, Czech Republic

 

 

Purpose of the Job:

The job holder will be responsible for delivering innovative, high-quality, and competitive mechanical lock solutions that meet customer, regulatory, and business requirements. The position oversees mechanical development activities across the full product lifecycle and ensures effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the mechanical products development strategy in line with business objectives
  • Manage and develop the mechanical engineering team
  • Lead mechanical design, development, and validation of products
  • Ensure robust designs meeting quality, cost, and manufacturability targets
  • Support industrialization and transfer to series production
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and cost optimization
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards for lock solutions and internal ASSA ABLOY guidelines
  • Lead technical root cause analysis of mechanical field issues
  • Perform required operational activities and reporting

 

Applicant Qualifications:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Proven experience in mechanical product development
  • Experience in technical or people leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work effectively in an international, cross-functional environment
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • English proficiency at minimum B2 level
  • Willingness to travel
