Project Engineer

B&B Roadway and Security Solutions, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the design and development of our electromechanical solutions in our Russellville, AL location. 

What you will be doing:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting and assisting project teams in a manufacturing environment, primarily taking actions of coordination and execution of project tasks.  Through their efforts on projects relating to company offerings and technical preferences, the Project Engineer will concurrently document best-practices for product design in SolidWorks, department policies and procedures.  The Project Engineer will also need to demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to foster a can-do culture with associates and internal customers to obtain key initiatives aligned to B&B’s vision and goals.

Duties:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet expectations for the following:

• Support prototyping, testing, and validation of designs to ensure functionality and durability.
• Troubleshoot and improve existing product designs to enhance performance and reduce manufacturing costs.
• Identify areas of impending risk and develop effective solutions in a real time production environment. 
• Assemble facts and data to present informed decisions on issues related to products, pricing, delivery and quality.
• Participate in or initiate process improvement projects ad hoc.
• Serve as a key participant in team and client meetings with the ability to confront issues openly and quickly as well as effectively communicate relevant project information.

Qualifications:

Candidates with the following qualifications and experience are well suited for success in this role. 

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering with 3 years of work experience.

(or)   Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Technical Writing or related field with 5 years of work experience.

(or)   8 yrs of equivalent experience can substitute for Education with previous experience in a senior role.

Experience or Traits:

• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drafting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems integration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Detailed, organized, analytical and reliable
• Excellent communication and negotiating skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe software.
• Experience collaborating with remote team members using Microsoft Teams.

Preferred Skills: 

• Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
• Working knowledge of AutoCad.
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, plastics, and machining.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, or ISO.
