AR Specialist

Position Title: AR Specialist - Temporary

Location: Rochester, NY

Reports To: Accountant

Department: Finance

Classification: Non-exempt, Part - Time

Position Summary

The 6 month- Temporary role of AR Specialist will help to support cash application activities. The role will take place at our Rochester, NY facility, 4 hours per day, 5 days a week (12PM-4PM OR 1PM-5PM).

Key Responsibilities

Daily Cash Application

• Apply customer payments accurately in IFS daily
• Verify applied cash matches bank deposits and remittance details
• Internal communication for any payment variance
• Deposit checks (remote deposit) and follow up with customers

Remittance Follow‑Up

• Review payments received without remittance information
• Email customers requesting payment remittance details as needed

Payer & Payment Database Maintenance

• Review payments where one payer remits for multiple customers
• Update payer‑to‑customer mappings in the payment database as needed
• Add or update “Other Payer” records in IFS

Compliance & Documentation

• Request sales tax exemption certificates from customers as needed
• Save all payment remittances and supporting documentation to internal drive

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• HS diploma with 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role OR A.S./B.S. degree in Accounting or equivalent field
