The Senior RFID Label Production Engineer is responsible for the technical ownership, development, validation, and continuous improvement of RFID label production processes. The role ensures that all RFID label manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production methods operate safely, efficiently, and consistently while meeting customer quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
This position leads New Product Introduction (NPI), process validation, production trials, and manufacturing optimization, serving as the technical expert for RFID label production.

The Industrial Smart Components (ISC) Business Unit, within IDT, is a global leader in producing standard and custom passive RFID tags and labels for the industry & logistics, healthcare, animal identification, and fueling automation markets. We operate manufacturing sites in Malaysia, China, and the United States.
As our Senior RFID Label Production Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by:
Production Engineering
• Own and manage all RFID label production processes and associated manufacturing equipment.
• Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve quality, productivity, and cost.
• Define machine settings, process parameters, and production standards for RFID label manufacturing.
• Provide technical leadership and support to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Drive process capability improvements through data analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Equipment Ownership
• Lead the specification, installation, commissioning, and qualification of RFID production equipment.
• Develop machine setup standards and changeover procedures.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with the Maintenance team.
• Evaluate and recommend equipment upgrades and new technologies to improve manufacturing performance.
• Ensure equipment reliability and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
New Product Introduction (NPI)
• Lead manufacturing activities for new RFID label products from development through production release.
• Assess manufacturability of new products and recommend process improvements.
• Develop manufacturing documentation for new product launches.
• Coordinate pilot builds and production readiness activities.
Validation & Process Control
• Develop and execute process validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ where applicable).
• Lead validation of new equipment, materials, tooling, and production processes.
• Ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain process capability through statistical monitoring and ongoing validation.
Material Qualification
• Plan and execute production trials for RFID inlays, face materials, adhesives, liners, printing substrates, release coatings, and other converting materials.
• Evaluate trial results and approve materials for production use.
• Work closely with suppliers to qualify new materials and resolve technical issues.
Continuous Improvement
• Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Reduce production waste and improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Improve product quality, yield, and process stability.
• Identify opportunities for automation and digitalization within RFID label production.
Technical Leadership
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Production Technicians and Operators.
• Support training on equipment operation, setup, and troubleshooting.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and R&D to achieve manufacturing objectives.
Quality & Compliance
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate production issues and implement CAPA.
• Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, customer specifications, and internal procedures.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, work instructions, and process specifications.
Your Experience and Background include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in RFID label manufacturing, label converting, printing, packaging, or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Experience with rotary converting and RFID label production equipment.
- Proven experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI), process validation, and production optimization.
- Experience qualifying new materials and manufacturing processes.
- Strong background in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and process issues.
- Proficient in fixture and tooling design (SolidWorks, AutoCAD preferred).
- Familiarity with lean principles, SMED, OEE improvement, and industrialization best practices.
- Experience creating and implementing Work Instructions, process documentation, and technical validation reports.
- Effective communication in both English and Chinese, written and verbal.
