Project Manager

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:                                                                                                                                                     

 

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, planning, execution and successful delivery of a large-scale airport access control solutions installation project in Rwanda.

 

The role holder will have full accountability for project delivery, including contract management, stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, commercial oversight, project governance, installation management, risk control and final client handover.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

These include:

 

  • Lead the project from contract award through implementation, commissioning and final handover.
  • Review project contracts, specifications and commercial obligations to ensure full compliance and effective project execution.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, resources and delivery milestones.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulatory, statutory, aviation, safety and security requirements in Rwanda through the acquisition of permits, licenses, approvals and statutory clearances.
  • Coordinate procurement, logistics, subcontractors and installation teams to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Monitor project performance, costs, risks, quality and progress against agreed objectives and KPIs.
  • Manage project variations, claims, change requests and contractual matters in collaboration with management.
  • Conduct regular project reviews, risk assessments, site inspections and stakeholder meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality standards, health and safety requirements and project operational procedures.
  • Prepare and present regular project reports, forecasts and updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Lead testing, commissioning, client acceptance, documentation, training and project close out activities.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to support future business growth.

 

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related field. (A master’s degree is preferred)
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent Project Management certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience managing large-scale infrastructure, security systems, or construction projects in Rwanda.
  • Experience delivering projects in critical infrastructure, government, or highly regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract administration, commercial management, stakeholder engagement and project delivery.
  • Experience working across East Africa and managing multinational contractors and suppliers will be an added advantage.
