We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our software engineering team. In this role, you will work on technically challenging and meaningful projects in the field of biometric systems such as fingerprint and facial recognition. The position involves development of low‑level and middleware software, including device drivers, biometric SDKs, and interconnected security systems.

As our Senior Software Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

• Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high‑quality software solutions primarily in C/C++
• Performing development on Windows and Linux platforms, ensuring performance, stability, and security
• Delivering software components that meet functional requirements, quality standards, and project timelines
• Collaborating effectively with team members, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams
• Participating in code reviews and adhere to established development processes and best practices

Primary Duties

• Developing system‑level software including communication libraries, biometric SDKs, middleware, device drivers, and security infrastructure
• Contributing to the design and documentation of software architecture, modules, and specifications
• Applying knowledge of multithreading, interprocess communication, and system programming concepts
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to software quality, security, and maintainability

Your Experience and Background include:  

• Experience with device driver development for Windows, Linux, Android, or iOS
• Knowledge of secure and platform‑independent coding practices
• Familiarity with applied cryptography, PKI, X.509 certificates, and information security principles
• Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) or remote access platforms (e.g., Citrix)
• Working knowledge of Python for build, test, or automation scripts
• Experience with image processing, computer vision, and setup or optimization of Image Signal Processing (ISP/ISDP) pipelines
• Familiarity with camera imaging systems, image quality analysis, and related software frameworks
• Basic understanding of artificial intelligence or deep learning concepts
• Working knowledge of Czech or Slovak language

• Substantial professional experience in C/C++ software development
• Strong working knowledge of either Windows or Linux, with at least basic knowledge of the other
• Experience with software development tools and source control systems, preferably Git
• Understanding multithreading, multitasking, and interprocess communication
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and complete tasks with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• University degree (Bachelor’s minimum; Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Education: minimum 5 years with a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years with a Master’s degree
