Warehouse Manager

     

 

Oversee the receiving, warehousing, material movement, and inventory accuracy functions.  Responsible for implementing and maintaining the proper methods of moving the inventory within the company to achieve optimum “flow” and service level.   This would include movement of material between the main warehouse and the offsite warehouse. Works under minimum supervision.  Set guidelines and procedures for all functions for which this position is responsible. Make decisions and acts within agreed parameters and established precedents.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  • Manage the receiving employees and their functions to achieve accurate and timely movements of materials - receipts, movements between warehouses, shipments to outside process vendors, and vendor returns.
  • Manage the material handling employees and their functions to achieve accurate and timely movement of materials from the warehouse to the assembly lines.
  • Manage the inventory accuracy employees and their functions to support a cycle count program that counts all parts annually and ensures accuracy of the inventory throughout the process.
  • Manage the powered industrial vehicle program and ensure adherence of all employees within the facility.
  • Create Departmental Budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning for all responsible departments and manage them.
  • Work with all departments to facilitate proper inventory planning, streamline material movement throughout the facility.  
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manager will have a supervisor and hourly employees that report to them.  Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and solving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Education requirements are a Bachelor’s degree in business or a technical field; and/or
  • Minimum ten years of experience with warehouse, inventory control, production, shipping/receiving or logistics for a manufacturing company

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office

Language Ability

  • For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, technicians, and assemblers in English.

Quality Commitment

  • Assist the organization with establishing practices that align with ISO requirements.

Mathematical Ability

  • Ability to apply advanced concepts for problem solving warehouse issues

 Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with visual inspections. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop and kneel; use hands, reach with hands and arms; communicate clearly and effectively.  The employee may also be frequently required to lift up to 30 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. 

The noise level in the work and shop environment is moderate to loud.

While performing the duties of this position the employee may occasionally be required to work near fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee may also be required to work near moving mechanical parts.
