Trainer, Technical Product:

Customer and end-user training is critical to building brand loyalty and awareness at ASSA ABLOY. Our team of Technical Product Trainers deliver exceptional training experiences and learning opportunities that equip industry professionals with the knowledge and confidence to succeed in their roles; fostering brand loyalty, creating product evangelists, and positioning our organization as the trusted leader in the marketplace.

 

In this remote role, requiring 50-80% travel (including occasional travel to our facility located in Phoenix, AZ), you'll deliver live, hands-on, and virtual instructor-led training sessions on ASSA ABLOY products to diverse audiences, including wholesale distributors, locksmiths, integrators, architects, and internal teams. Collaborating with product experts and training content developers, you'll create dynamic, engaging learning experiences and ensure every session enhances customer understanding of our solutions and trust in the brand.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  • Deliver Engaging Training Sessions: Conduct hands-on and virtual training for ASSA ABLOY products and brands - specifically Adams Rite, Alarm Controls, HES, and Securitron - targeting wholesale distributors, locksmiths, integrators, architects, and internal teams.
  • Travel for Training: Travel 50-80%, including occasional trips to Phoenix, AZ, to deliver in-person training and support events. The candidate understands that the typical work week may be in excess of 40 hours. Must be capable of obtaining a passport for limited international travel – primarily Canada.
  • Independent Work Ethic: Exhibit a proactive approach to responsibilities by taking full ownership of tasks, prioritizing effectively, managing time, and driving projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Showcase Product Expertise: Stay up-to-date on technical features and applications of products to provide accurate, insightful training and support.
  • Exhibit Instructional Excellence: Utilize adult learning methods to accommodate varied learning styles and professional roles.
  • Adopt a Learner-Centric Approach: Prioritize audience needs by tailoring sessions for practical relevance and actionable takeaways.
  • Represent the Brand Professionally: Maintain a polished, customer-focused demeanor and appearance as an ambassador for ASSA ABLOY brands.
  • Collaborate on Training Content: Partner with product and content teams to develop dynamic materials aligned with business goals.
  • Manage Training Calendar: In cooperation with ASSA ABLOY sales reps, organize and schedule training sessions to maximize reach and efficiency.
  • Oversee Material Logistics: Ensure timely delivery and readiness of equipment and resources for seamless training execution.
  • Support Brand Loyalty: Build trust through educational initiatives, fostering lasting relationships with customers and end users.
  • Uphold Brand Standards: Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, communication, and interactions, reflecting the company's values.

On a periodic basis, other duties may be assigned that support training, product promotions, and business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Education (Preferred): Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent work experience in the physical electromechanical security and access control industry preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in physical electromechanical security, access control, or related technical industry. Hands-on experience with ASSA ABLOY brands or similar products is a plus.
  • Training Expertise: Proven experience delivering technical training (in-person and virtual) to diverse audiences. Knowledge of adult learning principles and methodologies.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of access control, electronic locking systems, and related technologies. Familiarity with tools for virtual training delivery and training management systems.
  • Professional Skills: Excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation skills. Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse learners. Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel 50-80% of the time, including occasional international trips.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Certifications in related technologies (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, or similar), industry standing (ALOA, SIA, or similar), or professional development in training and facilitation preferred or capable of obtaining.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands (manual dexterity).
    • Ability to stand for five or more hours at a time.
  • Requires sufficient auditory and visual acuity to interact with and/or communicate with others.
  • Lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more from ground level on a regular basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities
