Technical Writer

ASSA ABLOY has an opening for an experienced Technical Writer and Graphic Illustrator to join our team. Focused on our electromechanical and electronic access control solutions, the technical writer will help us take our customer centric material to the next level. We are looking for someone who can evaluate and analyse complex information and re-format it so it’s easier to understand. Creating a positive customer experience is paramount as we continue to develop and enhance our products and, as such, the ideal candidate will be able to translate complex product information into simple, polished and engaging content. Working closely with various departments, the successful candidate will develop, organize and write, including but not limited to, installation instructions, user manuals, and technical specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create/Edits comprehensive customer facing technical documentation for electro-mechanical and electronic access control hardware.
  • Work with engineering, product development, product management and product marketing to develop a deep understanding of products and consumers.
  • Translate complex information and procedures into simple and clear instructions and guides, meeting the needs of the target audience.
  • Create and manage the complete product documentation schedule in accordance with new product introductions.
  • Update and manage the complete product documentation in accordance with existing products for improvements or corrections.
  • Utilize InDesign software to create documentation.
  • Research product samples to fully understand product.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 Years of experience as a technical writer, preferred.
  • Experience with technical illustration and graphical modeling, desired.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SAFe Agile project management preferred
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible, service-oriented and have a strong sense of urgency.

 

Computer Skills    

  • Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, other Adobe Creative Suite products
  • Solidworks, preferred.
