Quality Engineering Technician

     

 

The Quality Engineering Technician supports the Quality team by performing inspections, tests, data analysis, and documentation activities to ensure products and processes meet established quality standards. This role bridges handson technical work with analytical problemsolving, contributing directly to continuous improvement and defect prevention.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

 

  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.
  • Generate and document Discrepant Material Reports (DMR), coordinate communication with suppliers and support disposition of materials.
  • Assist quality inspectors in clarifying criteria, documentation, or testing requirements.
  • Create, issue, and maintain Quality Alerts to communicate critical quality issues to production teams in a timely manner.
  • Maintain assembly-related documents (forms, reference materials, photos, guides) in an organized, controlled structure. Ensure all photos used in documentation are current, clearly labeled, and include accurate timestamps.
  • Ensure all drivers are calibrated as required, maintain calibration logs and escalate overdue calibration issues.
  • Log customer complaints, perform root cause investigation as necessary, implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness. Supports customer service when information is needed for Customer Care Form (CCF).
  • Support RMA reduction by identifying trends contributing to returns and support countermeasure implementation initiatives through data review and corrective actions.
  • Performs process audits to ensure compliance with documented procedures.
  • Supports training activities as needed (inspection methods, documentation, quality standards, etc.).
  • Respond promptly to quality‑related issues on the assembly lines and assist with containment and disposition of non‑conforming material.
  • Assist in continuous improvement projects as directed by Quality Management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 and internal QMS requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2 Year Technical degree with a minimum of 3 or more years of related experience required or High School Diploma, with a minimum of 5 or more years of related experience plus additional formal related training. 
  • Basic understanding of Lean Methodology desired. 

 

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems is desired

 

Language Ability

  • For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, technicians, and assemblers in English.

 

Quality Commitment

Assist the organization with establishing practices that align with ISO requirements.

 

Other Skills

  • Other duties, as required, such as communication with and travel to customers, suppliers, trade shows and training sites. 
  • Communicate and interface with all levels of company organization. 
  • Able to read and comprehend blue-prints and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong Continuous Improvement mindset.

The noise level in the work and shop environment is moderate to loud.

 

While performing the duties of this position the employee may occasionally be required to work near fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee may also be required to work near moving mechanical parts.
