Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift LSP

     

 

Assists in the orientation, training, development and assignment of employees within their department; provides leadership direction for the assigned team.

 

This is a second shift role. It will work on the LifeSaftey Power business area. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

 

  • Enforce safety regulations.
  • Determine daily department requirements using input from planning tools and production manager, to ensure that daily goals are met.
  • Provide training as needed to meet department needs.
  • Identify daily work tasks for the team members utilizing the work orders.
  • Accountable for daily/weekly metrics with respect to cost, schedule, quality and safety.
  • Coordinate activities and communicate with Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality Control, and Human Resources Departments as needed.
  • Participate and cultivate team engagement in 6S and process improvement programs; i.e. CITI program, 6S audits, etc.
  • Ability to track daily performance using charts, graphs or other metric programs.
  • Direct and perform duties as needed to meet department needs; use correct procedures in a teamwork environment.
  • Inspect components for fit and finish / or interpret departmental trends for anomalies and inform Department Manager of any issues.
  • Conform with the organization’s ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements.
  • Assist Production Manager with various tasks as requested.
  • Assist in the creation and development of systems, processes, and metrics to drive and maintain improvement across the entire factory.
  • Generate and coordinate execution of measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.
  • Assist production personnel in solving work-related problems.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises assemblers, machinists, and/or shipping personnel.  Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

 

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years of related experience in a factory or manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Quality Commitment

  • Assist the organization with establishing practices that align with ISO requirements.

 

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office

 

Language Ability

  • For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, technicians, and assemblers in English.

Other Skills

Ability to use basic hand tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work and shop environment is moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this position the employee may occasionally be required to work near fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee may also be required to work near moving mechanical parts.
