Electrical Design Engineer

New product developer applying the principles and techniques of electronic engineering to accomplish goals that benefit ASSA ABLOY’s business. Key member of the design team to develop, design, and test electro-mechanical products for the access control industry. Primary focus on component engineering taking products from conceptual design to production.

Responsibilities:

  • Design embedded systems specifically around STM ARM and/or Microchip PIC controllers and others.
  • Create bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Create designs around RF communication which include NFC, Wi-Fi, BLE and Cellular.
  • Create designs with other communication protocols such as I2C, TCP/IP, RS-232, GPIB
  • Ability to research components using web applications such as SiliconExpert and Trusted Parts.
  • Hands-on designing with Altium (preferred) or Orcad is required.
  • Clear understanding/experience in electronic packaging and PCB design.
  • Work with Apache Subversion (SVN) and Agile PLM system
  • Work closely with vendors developing mapping radar techniques.
  • Hands-on circuit simulation and modeling software (PSpice & Mathcad).
  • Create required firmware for the embedded systems using ‘C’ programming with following MISRA-C rules and strong coding principles.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of component engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years of industry experience in electronic design and development
  • Creates and develops products around microcontroller designs ensuring high quality and reliability.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in electronics design, analysis and PCB layout for hardened EMI capability.
  • ERP tools and Source control.
  • Excellent diagnostic, debug, and troubleshooting skills, using standard lab/bench equipment
  • Experienced with working with off-shoring partners, outsource partners, or other third-party partners.
  • Fluency in English language with some preference for Mandarin language a plus

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role has no direct reports.

 

Reports to:

  • Directly to the Sr. EE Engineering Manager based in Phoenix.
