Makes recommendations to the Purchasing and Materials Manager in purchasing all required materials and finished parts from domestic and international suppliers to support manufacturing.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

 

  • Interact with manufacturing and production planning to ensure the necessary materials are received when needed to support production.
  • Manage quote requests and purchase orders using MRP system as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Work with various departments in addition to suppliers to identify opportunities for cost savings, maximize on time delivery, minimize inventory and help resolve quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships; fully understand supplier capabilities and limitations.
  • Develop and implement computerized procurement records including items purchased, costs, delivery, product quality and performance.
  • Ability to manage delivery gaps and expedite needed material to minimize supply interruptions.
  • Seamless transition of material between suppliers and manufacturing locations.
  • Support and contribute to the development and implementation of group commodity team strategies.
  • Develop and implement vendor and purchase order files.
  • Conform with the organizations ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • 4 year college degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Finance; or one to three years purchasing / production planning experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving in a dynamic purchasing environment.
  • Applies logical thinking and creativity to resolve routine procurement challenges and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Shows persistence and resourcefulness when navigating unfamiliar systems, suppliers, or processes.
  • Follows through on assigned tasks and inquiries with attention to detail, ensuring timely completion and clear communication with stakeholders.

 

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in order processing, inventory, manufacturing and database software (MRP/ERP such as JDE or equivalent); possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and email.   

This role is in-person in the Phoenix Office. No Remote Work.
