Job Summary:

The Agile Project Manager is responsible for planning and managing the details required for a cross-functional team to execute to the ASSA ABLOY EMS Group’s product development vision.  The Agile Project Manager’s primary job function is to lead scrum based engineering development projects to establish, maintain and communicate schedules that illustrate project tasks, timing and team member assignments required to keep projects on schedule and within budget. It is also critical this position works to lead a team through adaptive changes, iterative design loops, and always alert through communication for ways to improve. This position will be a part of a Project Management team working with a talented team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Product Managers, and Marketing and Operations professionals.

 

Profile:

We are looking for a highly motivated person; able to focus on the details while still being able to see the big picture; with a positive attitude and excellent communication and people skills; able to operate in a multi-tasked fast paced product development environment. This position will require executing the project’s schedule and scope while balancing this with timely and regular value deliveries, and organizing team member work and project status meetings.

  • Minimum qualification:
    • 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager, preferably managing new product development projects.
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project.
    • Some experience with various Agile and Scrum elements, including Agile planning and Agile project management with Scrum.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Able to express well thought-out ideas and concepts.
    • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
    • Adaptive and flexible during times of change.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast moving environment.
    • Ability to organize and lead cross-functional teams on a common goal.
    • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
    • Diligent and detailed file organization.

 

 

  • Preferred qualifications:
    • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager, Project Manager, Agile Project Manager (APA) or Scrum Master preferably managing new product development projects.
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university.
    • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project, Jira, etc.
    • Experience with Lean Development techniques such as Phase-Gate or other advanced planning systems is a plus.
    • A strong familiarity with various Agile and Scrum elements, including Agile planning and Agile project management with Scrum.
    • Experience managing software development projects.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

To perform the position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

The Agile Project Manager will:

  • Direct and manage project development projects from beginning to end.
  • Define with a product manager and product owner the project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop planning increment project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Support recurring team scrum meetings.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines, track project milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Conduct project status and phase-gate sign-off meetings to executives.
  • Conduct project retrospective meetings and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Conform with the organizations ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements.

 

 

Technical tasks:

The Agile Project Manager uses project management software and team scrum meetings to help communicate tasks and their timing to project team members.  Having the capability to manage and provide status (current and future) using MS Project and Jira is necessary, but training is available. An engineering background is not required, but considered a plus.

 

Other duties may be assigned.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to parse issues and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule form. Ability to glean insights from both qualitative and quantitative data.

 

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.

 

Other Skills:

Highly inquisitive, with the ability for asking and obtaining answers for core issues. Effective interpersonal skills are important to be able to be effective in this role. Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills. Ability to interact at all levels of business, with the ability to collaborate with and influence decision makers.

While performing the functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop and kneel; use hands, reach with hands and arms; communicate clearly and effectively. The employee may also occasionally be required to lift 35 pounds.
