ROLE PROFILE

National Business Development Manager & Inland Lead – Impro &  DAS Core

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To grow the Impro & ASSA ABLOY Digital Access Solutions (DAS) footprint across South Africa. To generate new business, driving demand for our digital access technologies, and building strong relationships in the SMB and Enterprise sectors. This role includes national leadership of the Business Development team, providing coaching, performance management, and strategic direction across all the South Africa regions. To be the leader and face of Impro & DAS in the market.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

 

Lead the South African Business Development Team

  • Provide strategic direction, coaching, and operational leadership to the BD team across South Africa
  • Develop and execute a national strategy to expand Impro’s installer, integrator, and consultant ecosystem.
  • Drive competitive displacement, increase brand presence across all verticals, and ensure strong national pipeline generation aligned to business targets.
  • Act as the senior hunter for the Inland provinces by acquiring new system integrators, installers, key endusers, and consulting engineers.

 

New Business & Market Development

  • Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities with endusers, consultants, engineers, and specifiers.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline targeting a variety of vertical markets.
  • Promote DAS solutions through presentations, demos, workshops, and facetoface engagements.

 

Customer & Influencer Engagement

  • Conduct visits, meetings, and briefings to establish ASSA ABLOY as a Trusted Advisor in digital access control.
  • Understand customer technology requirements and position suitable solutions.

 

Collaboration & Solution Support

  • Work closely with product managers, engineering, and internal teams to ensure strong solution design and tender responses.
  • Assist consultants and endusers with BOQs, specifications, and system design inputs.

 

Sales Discipline

  • Maintain accurate reporting, CRM updates, activity tracking, and forecasting.
  • Meet monthly activity goals, including customer visits and engagement targets.

 

Minimum Activity

  • A minimum of 54 customer face-to-face visits per month as per example below
  • Build and manage a pipeline achieving at least 4× sales target coverage.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12/Matric
  • Previous exposure to sales, business development, or customer facing roles.
  • Basic technical curiosity or interest in digital or electronic solutions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with CRM tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to travel for customer visits, events, and industry engagements.
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license
