What would you do as our Buyer? 
We’re looking for someone to purchase materials, equipment, supplies and services of a specialized or complex nature in compliance with ASSA ABLOY purchasing policies and procedures. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will review and analyze purchase requisitions, identify and develop suppliers, prepare bid specifications, issue requests for bids, and evaluate quotations. You will also provide guidance on purchasing procedures to both departments and vendors. In addition to traditional purchasing responsibilities, this role gives the possibility of conducting technical cost analysis of components and assemblies, establishing cost targets that guide strategic sourcing decisions.

 

You would also be responsible for:

Purchasing Activities
• Reviews and processes purchase requisitions, ensuring accuracy, compliance with purchasing policies and determining the correct processing method.
• Identifies departmental needs and budget requirements, recommending refinements to specifications for commodities, supplies, or equipment. Prepares bid specifications, legal advertisements, formal bid invitations or RFPs; receives and analyzes bids and proposals, awards contracts, and administers purchasing agreements.
• Breaks down materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly steps to identify cost drivers and define realistic, strategically aligned cost targets to support sourcing activities.
• Collaborates closely with Engineering, R&D, Production, and suppliers to validate cost structures and ensure alignment with technical feasibility and quality standards.
• Responds to and resolves purchasing related questions from internal departments and vendors.

 

The skills and experience you need 
We are looking for someone who:
• Has at least 3 years of experience in similar roles and possesses a University degree.
• Has strong interpersonal, organizational and professional skills, including stress management, effective communication, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Is commercially aware, with the ability to build value‑adding supplier relationships, alongside strong negotiation skills.
• Is fluent in Italian and English, with advanced PC skills, and knowledge of the Office package. Experience with AS400 would be a plus.

 

Additionally, and in relation to the cost engineering aspect of the role, will consider as a strong plus the following:
• Technical understanding of components, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to conduct cost analysis and design a Should-Cost Calculation.
