Architectural Door & Frame Technician (Hollow Metal Doors & Frames)
What would you do as our Architectural Door & Frame Technician?
Position Summary
In this role, you will inspect, repair, and rework hollow metal doors, frames, and hardware to ensure all materials and finished products meet quality standards and customer requirements.
You would also:
- Inspect incoming materials and completed doors/frames for defects and spec compliance
- Support production with quality checks and issue resolution
- Perform final inspections prior to shipment (dimensions, hardware prep, labeling, workmanship)
- Complete minor repairs and rework (sanding, touch-up, adjustments)
- Assist with NCRs, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts
- Read shop drawings and verify order accuracy
- Document inspections and maintain quality records
- Operate sit-down forklifts and reach trucks to safely move materials
- Other duties as assigned, including housekeeping
The Skills and Experience You Need:
• Safety-minded with at least 2 years in quality inspection or manufacturing
• Experience with hollow metal doors/frames or similar products preferred
• Able to read blueprints and perform basic math (decimals/fractions)
• Skilled with measuring tools (tape measure, calipers) and power tools (drill, grinder, sander)
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and tablets
• Forklift certified (sit-down and stand-up)
• Strong attention to detail; able to lift and handle heavy materials
Physical Requirements
• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and squatting
Work Environment
• Manufacturing/shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment
• Regular interaction with production floor operations
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Safety-focused, team-oriented setting
PAY: $25-$30/hour, depending on experience.
