About the Role:

As part of our continued growth we’re looking for test automation engineers to join our team. You will work within our multi-disciplinary scrum teams, in a fast moving, agile environment, helping to develop and deliver cloud-based solutions. You will help the scrum teams gain early feedback on quality, and support reliable and frequent deployment. You’ll be supported by the Test Automation Lead who will provide mentoring and guidance on the automation framework and approach.


What you would do as a test automation engineer

As a test automation engineer you will perform the following activities:

  • work collaboratively with other engineers to analyse requirements and identify appropriate test cases for automation
  • write and implement test cases with appropriate test coverage, using BDD and/or TDD practices and tools
  • develop, build and maintain automated test scripts across multiple layers (e.g. component, API, front-end, mobile, integration, regression)
  • work collaboratively with other engineers in a continuous build environment.
  • automate test reports and collaborate with wider team to identify root causes.

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who has the following skills:

  • Proven experience of test automation in a product development environment (e.g. component, API, front-end, mobile, integration, regression testing)
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of test automation principles, including distributed testing methods
  • Experience with BDD and/or TDD practices
  • Experience of working with test automation tools, technologies and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber, TestNG, Maven, Jira, Zephyr
  • Experience of writing test scripts, ideally in C#/JavaScript but would also consider Java
  • Knowledge of testing both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with API test libraries such as REST Assured, RESTSharp
  • Used to working in an environment using various source control solutions (Git, etc.) including branching & working with repositories
  • Knowledge of the software development and software testing lifecycles
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment (Scrum).
  • Good communication skills.


It would be advantageous if you also have experience of some of the following:

  • Working in a cloud-based service-oriented environment, with distributed software architectures and highly scalable database platforms
  • Integration testing of containers
  • Experience of working with AWS
  • Performance testing tools such as Gatling, JMeter
  • Experience of working in a DevOps environment
  • ISEB, ISTQB, or other relevant qualifications/experience.
  • Experience with front-end testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha or Chai
  • Experience with any other languages and frameworks e.g. Flutter, React Native, Flutter, Xamarin/MAUI.
