Software Developer - Traka

Software Developer

‘Be part of an innovative forward-thinking company’

You will be part of a professional enterprise Software Development team that is still rapidly growing, who create innovative solutions to address real world customer problems in the key and asset management space.

Our software solutions are used worldwide, from small business to enterprise blue-chips, with deployments on a small scale, through to large international deployments with complex system integrations.

What you would do as our Software Developer

You’ll work throughout the development stack on desktop, web/device based applications, APIs and backend services, developing and maintaining our current on-premise software solutions; TrakaWEB and Traka Touch.  This might mean implementing an improvement in our web product, fixing bugs, designing forms, plugging in code to implement a new feature across the platform, and more.

You would also:

  • Gain a strong understanding of Traka’s products, solutions and services.
  • Solve real world problems for real world customers.
  • Design and develop enterprise solutions against distributed application architectures.
  • Design, build and maintain high quality, secure, scalable, optimised and reusable code.
  • Maintain and improve code quality and test coverage.
  • Translate user stories and requirements into functional software deliverables.
  • Collaborate and work effectively and optimally with your team colleagues.
  • Take pride in your work and the work of the team.
  • Contribute technical knowledge/documentation to educate and inform.
  • Be passionate about agile software development and we want you to share our vision for quality in our work, collaborative working, empowerment, honesty, and trust.

We use a range of technologies in our solutions so here is an insight into our current stack:

.NET 4.8 and .NET 5 – C#, Entity Framework, ASP.NET MVC, HTML5, Bootstrap, jQuery, WinForms, WPF, WCF and WebAPI2.

We also maintain a partial VB.NET codebase.  Whilst our strategy is to migrate away from it, we feel that transparency is best.

You can expect to join a professional, dynamic, and friendly team.  Our offices are based in Olney (near Milton Keynes) and some of our staff also work remotely; we’re flexible around working arrangements, so the choice is yours.

We’re always evolving our SDLC and looking at new tools and techniques to empower, automate, inform and learn.

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a proven track record of delivering complex software solutions.
  • Is highly experienced with C# and .NET.
  • Is comfortable working in across the stack (a full stack developer).
  • Is an engaging and positive team player with a take-charge attitude and commitment to getting things done.
  • Is a natural problem solver, applies best practice and uses modern principles and techniques.
  • Has a thorough experience of SOLID principals, a passion for code quality and upholding test coverage.
  • Shows excellent teamworking and communication skills.
  • Is analytical, pragmatic and resourceful, and enthusiastic to get under the skin of what our products are, how they work and the benefits they provide for our customers.
  • Is friendly and hungry for acquiring new knowledge and building great products.

Qualifications?  Your personality, experience, and eagerness to learn is equally as important as your technical skills.  Our people make it happen.

Finally, we’d be delighted if you can offer any experience with:

  • Cloud based software development and Cloud platform experience.
  • Mobile app development (React Native, Flutter, Xamarin/MAUI, etc).
  • Experience with highly scalable database platforms.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment.
  • Experience with any other languages and frameworks.
