What you would do as our Application Support Team Leader

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to lead our R&D Application Support team, working with our global divisions and customers to support Traka’s products. You will also undertake a partially hands-on support role.


You’ll bring team leader or line management experience to support with workload prioritisation within the team, as well as facilitate and coordinate support activities across R&D teams and the business.


Our platform comprises software and hardware solutions in web, desktop and device-based environments.



You would also:

  • Gain a strong understanding of Traka’s products, solutions and services.
  • Line manage the Application Support team, leading the delivery of operational support requirements for Traka products and platforms.
  • Work closely with Traka’s global and regional support leads, managing the status and appraisal of critical issues.
  • Grow the competence and capability of the team in alignment with departmental strategy.
  • Lead recruitment activities and select top talent.
  • Collaborate and work effectively with R&D Management and the wider team.
  • Work closely with our Agile leadership team on culture and ways of working.
  • Explore how metrics and KPIs can be accumulated and aligned to give a representative picture of Application Support and Software Quality.
  • Identify and contribute towards continuous improvement initiates.
  • Undertake support activities, where time permits.


The skills and experience you need


We are looking for someone who:

  • Has industry experience working in an application support team/environment, preferably having worked hands-on, with experience at senior or leader level.
  • Has experience of people development, reviewing performance and setting realistic development goals and training plans.
  • Is experienced recruiting and evaluating technical expertise.
  • Is familiar with Kanban or equivalent Agile/workload management approaches.
  • Has strong technology awareness within the IT / Software field.
  • Has proven experience with ticket or issue management systems (such as Jira) including SLAs.
  • Can communicate effectively at different levels, verbal and written.


Qualifications?  Your personality, experience, and eagerness to learn is equally as important as your technical skills.  Our people make it happen and underpin our collective success.


Finally, we’d be delighted if you can offer any experience with:

  • Agile or ITIL Service Management.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Any development/coding experience (ideally with .NET)
  • Supporting/maintaining distributed software solutions.
  • Working within DevOps teams/environments.
  • Any Cloud based technologies or SaaS solutions.
