HR Specialist

ASSA ABLOY Australia is seeking an HR Specialist to join its Human Resources team based in Oakleigh, Melbourne. This is a hands-on, on-site role supporting managers and employees across the business and works closely with the HR Business Partner to deliver practical, day-to-day HR support, including employee relations matters and people initiatives.
The role suits an HR professional who enjoys working in a people-facing environment and contributing across the employee lifecycle within a structured organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HR and employee relations support to managers and employees, responding to general HR enquiries and supporting the consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Support managers with employee relations matters including performance, conduct, and attendance, with escalation through the HR Business Partner where required.
- Support end-to-end recruitment activities, including role setup, advertising, pre-employment checks, and onboarding coordination.
- Coordinate and deliver employee inductions, work experience placements, and early-career programs.
- Prepare HR and ER correspondence and maintain employee records, ensuring documentation is accurate, compliant, and well maintained.
- Maintain workforce data within the HRIS, support managers in system use, and assist with cyclical HR activities and reporting.
Skills and experience
- Qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience in an operational HR, HR Specialist, or HR consulting role.
- Experience supporting employee relations matters within established frameworks.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with managers and employees.
- High attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
- Experience using HR systems and maintaining workforce data.
