The Role
As General Manager, you will take full P&L responsibility for the IDE business in the UK, reporting directly to the Regional Director – BSI UK & IE. You will lead all functional areas of the business, including manufacturing, finance, sales, service, and operations. This is a high-profile role that plays a critical part in shaping the future of the business by implementing strategic initiatives, improving operational processes, and fostering a culture of innovation.
Key Responsibilities
P&L Management and Business Growth:
- Assume full accountability for the P&L of the IDE business, ensuring profitability and exceeding growth targets.
- Develop and execute business development and sales strategies to drive sustainable growth.
- Oversee all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the IDE segment.
Operational Leadership:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring seamless coordination across all departments, including manufacturing, commercial, finance, service, and operations.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
- Oversee production and supply chain operations, ensuring that products meet quality standards, are produced on time, and adhere to cost targets.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in line with ASSA ABLOY’s global guidelines.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define and execute both short- and long-term strategies focused on business growth and market expansion.
- Analyse market trends and customer needs to adapt strategies and stay ahead of industry demands.
- Monitor KPIs and adjust tactics to achieve strategic goals and desired results.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the senior management team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Drive talent development, performance evaluations, and create opportunities for professional growth across all levels of the business.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment and effective communication across teams.
Digital Transformation and Process Improvement:
- Champion the transition from paper-based processes to a fully digital environment, integrating new technologies that enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead the implementation of business management software and tools to improve processes across manufacturing, finance, and service operations.
- Oversee the change management process to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and technologies.
Customer and Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and partners to ensure the business remains a trusted provider.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify new market opportunities and negotiate key contracts.
- Ensure a customer-centric approach across all business functions, with a focus on delivering high-quality products and responsive service.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment, with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience.
- Solid understanding of industrial door manufacturing, engineering, and related sectors.
- Strong leadership, commercial acumen, and financial expertise with the ability to drive business growth while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Experience in managing P&L, leading cross-functional teams, and overseeing business transformation, particularly in digitalisation and operational improvements.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with business management software (ERP, CRM) and technology-driven manufacturing practices.
Education and Qualifications
- A degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant professional qualifications in finance, operations, or sales are an advantage.
