As our Team Leader Engineering NPI, you’ll support HID’s success by:
Management Activities
- Conducting performance and appraisal interviews
- Facilitating team meetings with direct reports
- Ensuring employee development, including coordinating education/training and knowledge sharing
- Leading and coaching the Engineering sub-department, including contracted resources (approximately 8–15 employees in total)
- Maintaining oversight of multiple projects, setting priorities, and coordinating activities within the team
- Providing support to the Director of Engineering in preparing reports and monitoring the development process and organizational planning, including expanding the IAI roadmap
- Safeguarding the quality and quantity of work within the Engineering sub-department, ensuring that activities are performed in accordance with guidelines and agreements
Organization
- Ensuring appropriate staffing levels within the Engineering department (number of resources, required competencies, etc.)
- Ensuring uniformity and standardization of (work) processes
- Defining and determining outsourcing assignments, i.e. specifying what contracted resources are expected to deliver
- Maintaining oversight of Engineering resource planning and, where necessary, engaging support from resources in other teams
Technologies and System Design
- Translating developments into new applications, market applications, and/or system specifications
- Advising on potential new technologies, material applications, and/or innovations to company systems and machines
- Co-determining the system architecture for newly developed systems and machines
- Together with a multidisciplinary team (Software, Mechanics, and Electronics), translating required customer specifications into a conceptual design and functional specifications
- Participating in and facilitating reviews to assess the functionality and quality of designs
Primary Duties
Communication
- Communication takes place in both Dutch and English
- Promoting information exchange within a multidisciplinary team (Development, Software, Mechanics, and Electronics) to ensure functionalities are translated into design information
- Discussing project planning, progress, and results with the Director of Engineering and/or Project Managers
- Communicating technical information and malfunctions with (international) customers
- Preparing presentations, project plans, work instructions, and test documents
- Discussing technical content, solutions, specifications, process knowledge, system development, and innovations with the Director of Engineering, Managing Director, Project Managers, Engineers, Operations, and (international) customers
- Representing the Engineering team during meetings with Operations, Project Managers, and Team Leaders
- Supporting Sales with regard to new technical applications and process knowledge
- Preparing reports for the Director of Engineering
Authorities
- Setting priorities for the allocation and distribution of work within the team, including outsourcing tasks where necessary
- Initiating and following up on system and unit development, taking customer and functional specifications into account
- Making decisions regarding the deployment of people and resources
- Preparing, implementing, and monitoring procedures and regulations
- Making investment decisions within approved departmental budgets
- Analyzing, interpreting, and resolving problems within the Engineering sub-department
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the availability of appropriate resources within the team
- Ensuring the availability and TPD of developed units and machines, taking specifications into account
- Keeping standard machines and technology knowledge up to date and applying new technologies in the field of control software
- Building a solid knowledge infrastructure by promoting active knowledge transfer within the Engineering department
- Bearing responsibility for validation and test steps within the PCP process
- Establishing and managing departmental budgets
- Realizing adequate departmental planning and achieving project and departmental objectives
Your Experience and Background include:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related field
- Leadership and people management skills
- Experience in system design
- Strong communication skills
