By joining our team, you will be part of the CPI engineering team. This department is responsible for ensuring our technical documentation and processes are correct for customer specific projects.
As our Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by:
Design
- Analyze customer requirements and translate them into electrical specifications.
- Develop electrical specifications into detailed electrical designs within cross-functional teams.
- Design electrical systems.
- Create and deliver electrical schematics and associated bills of materials (BOMs).
- Review designs together with the multidisciplinary project team to ensure compliance with specifications, manufacturability requirements, and standardization principles.
Engineering & Development
- Translate designs into material lists for procurement, drawings, setup/configuration lists, machine operation flowcharts, and PLC software required for machine safety.
- Provide instructions to third parties and monitor the progress and quality of their work.
- Document relevant information for manuals, procedures, and work instructions.
- Record electrical specifications in design documentation in accordance with established procedures.
Validation & Testing
- Test and validate designs for functionality and safety in accordance with specifications and applicable safety standards.
- Develop and maintain test setups.
- Prepare test protocols for the Assembly & Test (A&T) department.
Support
- Support A&T personnel with technical questions and discuss suggestions from Assembly and Service staff regarding improvements in controls engineering, serviceability, user experience, and standardization.
- Propose improvements for existing IAI products.
- Track and resolve End-of-Life (EOL) issues for both newly built machines and the installed machine base.
- Act as a liaison between Software Engineering and Mechanical Engineering to facilitate mutual understanding and collaboration.
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer to the A&T department.
Job Characteristics
Communication
- Exchange information with all project team members to clarify customer requirements and translate them into electrical specifications.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Development teams to determine the required machine safety level.
- Discuss component selection with the Purchasing department based on technical specifications and cost considerations.
- Review project schedules, progress, and results with the Director of Engineering and/or Project Leaders.
- Communicate with international HID colleagues regarding outsourced work assignments (English).
- Discuss technical matters with international suppliers (English).
- Review and evaluate suggestions from Assembly and Service personnel regarding improvements in controls engineering, serviceability, user experience, and standardization.
- Support A&T personnel with technical questions.
- Coach and mentor Electrical Engineers.
- Serve as Lead Engineer on project teams.
- Communicate directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues (English).
Authority
- Modify and propose modifications to control software related to machine safety.
- Determine work sequence and methods within established priorities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver electrical designs within project schedules that meet customer requirements and applicable machine safety standards, including all required documentation in accordance with the Product Creation Process (PCP).
- Ensure timely availability of bills of materials for procurement, drawings, setup/configuration lists, process flowcharts, machine operation flowcharts, and safety-related PLC software.
- Report progress, status, and results of assigned work to management and Project Leaders
