We’re expanding our Access Egress Hardware Group, seeking to hire a Team Lead who oversees a small to mid-sized Firmware Engineering Team. This role will encompass shaping the future of cutting-edge technology as a pivotal member of the team. You will be spearheading the development of both new and existing platforms while continuing to shape how we bring new products to market. As a Techno-functional Lead, you will leverage your expertise in C language coding while working to bring our platforms to new heights.

 

This position will sit onsite full-time New Haven, CT.

 

What you will be doing 

 

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead and inspire a dynamic team of firmware engineers, guiding them towards technical excellence in C language coding and firmware development.
  • Undertake code reviews, mentorship, and coaching to establish and maintain best practices and ensure the highest level of firmware quality.
  • Utilize your expertise in the field to collaborate with Engineering Management in developing performance plans as necessary for team members.
  • Evaluate potential candidates while partnering with Human Resources throughout the onboarding process.

 

Firmware Development:

  • Own the firmware development process, aligning it with the product roadmap and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Managers, and Project Managers.
  • Define and implement high-performance software solutions, leveraging your deep understanding of embedded hardware design principles.

 

 

Collaborative Problem Solving:

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, including engineering, design, and app development, to integrate firmware seamlessly into our products and drive innovation forward.
  • Debug and resolve software issues in embedded systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

 

What we are looking for

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Systems or equivalent.
  • Over 5 years of experience managing engineers, ideally in a Scrum, Agile or similar iterative development environment.
  • Expertise in C/C++ programming languages with a focus on real-time programming, supplemented by experience with Python.
  • Strong understanding of multi-task/multi-threaded Real-Time Operating Systems.
  • Proficiency in defining architectures using UML, with a background in Electronic Engineering being advantageous.
  • Experience delivering firmware updates for commercial electronics products and proficiency with version control tools such as Subversion and Github.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously while setting a high standard for the rest of the team.
