ASSA ABLOY is seeking to hire a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our vibrant team at our centrally located in New Haven, CT facility. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting, this role plays a pivotal part in supporting various businesses under our vast portfolio.

What you will be doing:

In this role, you will support the daytoday and periodend accounting activities that ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. You will prepare journal entries, maintain detailed account reconciliations, and assist with monthend and quarterend close processes. Your work will include reviewing invoices and expenses, support general ledger maintenance, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP. You will investigate variances, resolve issues by collaborating with crossfunctional teams, and maintain thorough documentation for internal controls and audit requirements. Additionally, you will contribute to process improvements and provide support to senior accounting team members on special projects and adhoc analysis.

Key areas you will contribute to the role include:

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries within precision and attention to detail.
  • Assist in the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyse and reconcile balance sheet accounts to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Support the Fleet program in support of the sales organization.
  • Support Fixed Assets and Leases to ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Prepare and analyse sales and tax returns, ensuring compliance.
  • Contribute to special projects as an active team member, offering your financial expertise.
  • Support Accounts Payable activities and collaborate with team members on financial tasks.
  • Assess and recommend improvements to day-to-day procedures and controls.
  • Respond promptly to ad hoc requests for information and reports.

Education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 2-3 years of professional work experience supporting financial and accounting initiatives.
  • Strong technical acumen using MS Excel: v-lookups, pivots, and macros.
  • Proficiency in working with different systems to retrieve and analyze data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with business partners.
  • Limited travel with a potential of up to 5% if necessary (domestic).
  • Experience with Power BI, Business Objects, JD Edwards, Oracle SmartView/Hyperion and/or OneStream preferred.
  • Our ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in accounting and be motivated to grow with our global organization.
  • Exposure to a multi-divisional or multi-plant manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles in accordance with GAAP.

Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, business requirements, geographic location and other business and organizational needs.
