Solutions Architect
Duties: Work closely with product management, product owners, embedded system architects, field facing support groups, and other key stakeholders through the full product lifecycle. Describe solution context and solution intent, analyses trade-offs. Define nonfunctional requirements and ensure fitness for purpose. Identify risks, critical system interfaces and evaluate organic knowledge. Evaluate recent technologies or patterns of use that could elevate the platform. Identify areas requiring proof of concept and initiate risk mitigation strategies. Ensure technical alignment between hardware, embedded software (firmware) and system software teams both locally and globally based. Meet with Product Managers to understand the needs of the marketplace and translate these needs into overarching technical requirements. Meet with peer Solutions Architects from other technical working groups to discuss these product needs and develop system block diagrams showing the major electronic components and high-level embedded software (firmware) requirements. Work with Product Owners to develop 3 month rolling technical work breakdowns in order of business importance. This work breakdown would provide the input to Electrical Hardware Engineers and Embedded Software Engineers so that they could perform the detailed planning, design, and development of the lower-level work. Meet with Electrical and Software Architects to discuss implementation, issues, areas for optimization and feed this back into the system block diagram and overarching technical requirements. Interact with customer facing field representatives when addressing product issues seen in the field. Utilize an understanding of the overarching system to steer the issue resolution to the correct groups for resolution. Attend group council meetings to discuss technology roadmaps, identifying areas needing improved technology and evaluating how new technologies could extend our product lines. Provide consultations, mentoring and guidance to the working project team.
Requirements: Requires Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study. Requires 5 years of experience in any job title/occupation/position involving embedded software engineering or electrical engineering such as Sr. Embedded Software engineer, Embedded Software Architect, Software engineering manager or related role.
