Sargent Manufacturing ASSA ABLOY is seeking a Logistics Specialist to join our Shipping and Receiving Team.

 

Sargent Manufacturing is a market leader in commercial door hardware. The company's customer base includes commercial construction, institutional and industrial markets. Included in our product offerings are windstorm certified locks, hardwired and wireless access control devices, designer levers and an antimicrobial hardware coating.

 

This position will sit onsite in New Haven, CT fulltime.

 

What you will be doing 

 

  • ERP System Management: Review available shipments in the ERP system, batch, and print daily picklists for the shipping team to efficiently pick and ship orders.
  • International Shipping Documentation: Create and verify international shipping documents to ensure compliance with regulations and smooth customs clearance processes.
  • Harmonize Tariff Schedule (HTS) Code Management: Respond promptly to HTS code email inquiries, ensuring accurate classification of goods for international shipments.
  • Customer Order Processing: Batch customer orders and facilitate timely processing and shipment.
  • Customer Service Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for customer service and warehouse staff regarding shipment inquiries, expedites, and delivery updates.
  • Carrier Scheduling: Schedule carriers and coordinate shipping and delivery logistics, optimizing routes and minimizing transit times.
  • Document Management: Provide proof of delivery to the Customer Service and Accounting teams and maintain accurate records of shipping documents.
  • Issue Resolution: Follow up on shipment errors and damages, collaborating with relevant teams to address and resolve issues promptly.
  • Administrative Tasks: Batch and file daily picklists and shipping documents, ensuring efficient organization and retrieval of records.
  • Special Projects: Perform other duties as needed by management, demonstrating flexibility and readiness to support various operational tasks.

 

What we are looking for

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics Management, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Proficiency in inbound and outbound logistics processes, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of supply chain operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite with a focus in working with MS Excel along with ability to create compelling PowerPoint presentations.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills and ability to understand production and engineering business processes.
  • Proven experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS), demonstrating a strong command of integrated business management software.
  • Demonstrated practical problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to prioritize, plan, and organize tasks effectively to achieve operational objectives.
  • Ability to work autonomously and adapt quickly to changing priorities and environments, while maintaining a high level of productivity and professionalism.
  • Must be a “collaborator at heart” working with multiple departments, fostering alignment across teams.
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize a diverse range of tasks and projects to meet established deadlines and operational requirements, demonstrating exceptional time management skills.
